As part of the Michaelmas Term a Harvest Lunch was held at our daughters school this weekend.
Each festival has a community lunch associated with it, responsibility for the lunches changes from class to class throughout the year.
The blessing before the meal focused on triumph over adversity, and the children from class three sang to us before the food was served. Parents donated vegetables for soup, or fruit for the crumble in the week leading up to the meal. We were treated to musical entertainment from a guitar, violin & flute trio, and the children played in the playground in between courses. These events give families with children at the school to be part of the community, alongside community workdays, class picnics, and other events such as the advent & summer fairs.
